The Apostle Paul often used sporting images to illustrate aspects of the life of the Christian. He writes this:

Do you not know that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives the prize?

Run in such a way that you may win it.

Athletes exercise self-control in all things; they do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable one.

So I do not run aimlessly, nor do I box as though beating the air; but I punish my body and enslave it, so that after proclaiming to others I myself should not be disqualified.

State Youth Games

We are major sponsors of State Youth Games each year since 2000.

This is a Youth Vision program, coordinated by Brendon Hunt who works part time for CCSRA and one day per week for Youth Vision.

State Youth Games is held in Bunbury, a major regional country centre in South West Western Australia. The town is rich in sporting facilities and we are able to utilise them to great benefit over the weekend. The concept is that churches form teams including both churched and unchurched kids, we travel the 200 km south from Perth to Bunbury, stay together (some of the accommodation is pretty rough and ready) and play a myriad of sports in teams against each other. Points are awarded, there is an open church competition and a side by side small church competition (for teams under 50 kids) the age of competitors in minimum age 17 and maximum age 28.

There is a major service held on Saturday evening at which many kids make first time decisions for Christ.
