The Apostle Paul often used sporting images to illustrate aspects of the life of the Christian. He writes this:

Do you not know that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives the prize?

Run in such a way that you may win it.

Athletes exercise self-control in all things; they do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable one.

So I do not run aimlessly, nor do I box as though beating the air; but I punish my body and enslave it, so that after proclaiming to others I myself should not be disqualified.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

Master's Games 2007 was held very successfully on Saturday 13th October at the Warwick Leisure Centre. Thirteen church teams competed in a total of 22 different sports competitions.

The back to back winner, 2006 and 2007, was SUBIACO.

The wooden spooners team was KINGSLEY.

Congratulations to all the teams who competed. Most improved team was Gospel Baptist. They had a handful of people last year and really got behind the whole concept this year. As a result they improved their position from 10th last year to 4th this year.... well done!

Of course, the real winners are those that are willing to take on our vision for the day, and invite their friends, mates and neighbours to a fun day and spend all day getting to know them better. that's relational evangelism right there. They then go away and organise some other non threatening events, like a barbecue at someone's home, or a picnic, or whatever to further build friendship with the people.

That's a practical application of the Great Commission Mt 28:19-20.

"...that's relational evangelism right there."
